Why is the steam version windows only?

I wanted to buy BGEH on Steam, because Steam usually enables me to play a game on multiple platforms. To my surprise, the Steam version turned out to be windows only? So... if I want to play it on my mac too, I have to buy the game again via the appstore?

If this is intentional, f*ck that! Things like this really piss me off. And you guys can count this as a lost sale. I'm not buying the game at all. If not, when can I expect the steam version to be mac compatible too? And perhaps even Linux?

    The decision to release on steam was made by, and is completely controlled by Atari. Steam was never part of the Beamdog/Overhaul plan, and they have no control and little influence with Atari.
