    LOL. Lots of good ideas here.

    I don't personally think that a Live action movie would be any good, although I do like the idea of a Game of Thrones type movie (particularly with all of the extra sex they would have to infuse into the game). But that doesn't stop me from imagining who would play good key roles in it if there was one.

    acutally, GoT has got much more sex in the books, than they show. And gore and violence...
    But to see CHARNAME with Vicky to have a go at it... :D
    I might agree with you on the gore part, but as for the sex bit, it is much more front and center in the TV series than in the books.

    How would gratious sex scenes fit in a BG movie? Gore, sure, there's a lot slaughter going on; that's hard to avoid.

    The party has to do something during all of the sitting around in Inns and taverns, not to mention in the woods as they travel.

    I've thought about this in the past, and I think a style similar to Sin City and Waking Life/A Scanner Darkly would be really cool and fit the 2.5D style of BG. It's hard to blend real-time acting with the CGI it would require to emerse yourself in the Sword Coast.

    Sure, LOTR did it well, but 90% of the bad guys were Uruk-Hi in rubber masks; it's only going to be a few years before we consider the special effects dated.

    How about... eating? Hunting food? That seems more essential to me in those places. Sprites don't need to eat, but actors do.

    Yeah, which is why there should be feasts with roasts and wine and ale. ;)

    My BG:EE party had Viconia, Safana, and a male CHARNAME. You do the math.

    Just for the record, I'd keep the series as PG-13. Not that I don't like the contrary, but I can't see how much sex and gory violence would contribute to a BG live-action series,

    I think they were attempting to humorously indicate the gratuitous violence is becoming more and more prevalent in society and that they don't think it is necessarily a deal breaker when exposing children to it.

    "For me", I recently went to see the new Evil Dead movie. While in there, i saw a woman with her 10 year old son watching the movie. From my perspective, I'd have liked to introduce the woman to child protective services and made sure that type of behavior never happened again. But not everyone feels that way. I think there are things that a 10 year old doesn't need to be exposed to, so I disagree with the poster. but that is merely my opinion.

    Actually, Sackhoff as Shar-Teel is spot on, and Rodrigues would make a nice Safana. She's always typecast as the action girl that dies in the end. Playing Safana would let her show a different side, yet still stay true to her tendency to end... like this (sorry @Samus), if BG2 is considered.
  • the_spyderthe_spyder Member Posts: 5,018
    Fair point. For me, I imagine Shar-Teel as darker hair. Not that Katee couldn't die her hair for the part, just I naturally associate an actress that would fit that visual queue. Of course any woman that could pull of the attitude (of which I think both actresses could), and be able to convincingly play a warrior woman would do.

    I have never played with Safana in my party, so I can't say what actress would be good for her part. I'll take your word that Michelle would fit the bill.

    I'm really confused about Shar-Teel's hair color. The sprite clearly has red hair, the portrait is blond. I use a red hair portrait now because I found one that matches the hairstyle/length of the sprite, but I also still have "Shar-Teel = blond" locked in my mind.

    Safana isn't the warrior action girl type, but she was hanging out with pirates and if I had to kit her, she'd be a Swashbuckler. It's close enough to count as action girl.

    In looking at the image of shar-teel just now, I'd say that the woman who plays Brianne on Game of thrones might be a really good candidate. always assuming that she can pull off the attitude.
  • KidCarnivalKidCarnival Member Posts: 3,747
    Oh yes, that would be a good fit, too. I could also see her as Branwen. It takes a big girl to carry a warhammer.

    And, judging purely by early Stargate Atlantis, David Hewlett as Edwin.

    If we also cast BG2 - Antonio Te Maioha as Valygar.

    hmmm why I said Sackhoff as Shar-Teel was cuz she's great at playing choatic character roles.... just look at starbacks she's C.G good aligment and if you see her latetest movie (Sexy Evil Genius) she has the lead role as a C.N character and she is perfect... i would say she would master the role of shar-teel

    and Michelle Rodrigues as Safana... hmmm I would say no... anyone who want to play safana must be THeeee most beautiful sexy actress you can find (remember that safana is a seducer) . Michelle Rodrigues does have to much of the tough look to play Safana... but i do belive that she could play the role of Jaheira much much better...

    I would say most of the cast should be unkown new actors.. it's much cheaper that way...
    If I was a headhunter i would do this like this

    My version:
    Shar-Teel = Sackhoff
    Sarevok = Vin diseal he can play both bad guy and good guy... and he does look somewhat like Sarevok
    Tamoko = Jamie Chung or starting to look in japan for new actors

    Coran = now coran is somewhat based on robin hood... (i would choose a british actor for playing all elfs roles except Dark elf i would chose indian actors for the flavour there)

    Dynaheir= Ola Ghanem or Dalia El-Behiry ( some unknown egyptian dark skined Actor or afro american unknown actor if it is hard to find the right egyptian actor)
    Imoen = Ksenia Solo
    Kivan= some british actor
    Minsc = scottish actor
    Khalid = brittish
    Yeslick= headhunt searching eveywere
    Ajantis = Alexander Skarsgard

    Branwen= German actress (maybe Palina Rojinski)
    Faldorn = headhunt searching eveywere
    Garrick = headhunt searching eveywere
    Jaheira = Michelle Rodrigues
    Quayle = Irish actor(thinking of leprecon now haha)
    Safana = Golshifteh Farahani or Nazanin Boniadi (they have near east look)
    Skie = headhunt searching eveywere
    Xan = british actor

    Edwin = Tolga Karel (i would go for turkish actor here for red wizard theme)
    Eldoth = headhunt searching eveywere (but Bahram Radan does look good for Eldoth)
    Kagain = headhunt searching eveywere
    Montaron = headhunt searching eveywere
    Tiax = Headhunt actors in Irland
    Viconia =Diya Mirza or Celina Jaitly (for Viconia I would chose Indish Actor with natural blue or green eyes)
    Xzar = headhunt searching eveywere

    Edit:

    Nalia : I would choose latino actress here.... (like Benedita Pereira)
    Valygar : Afro american actor
    Mazzy: headhunt searching eveywere
    Aerie: British actress i would choose ( maybe Emilia Clarke or Rachel Hurd-Wood)
    Keldorn: Latino actor
    Anomen: Latino actor
    Cernd :Native American actor
    Haer'Dalis: headhunt searching eveywere
    Jan: Irish actor
    Yoshimo: Takayuki Yamada or some other korean or japanize actor
    Korgan: headhunt searching eveywere

    Michelle Rodrigues as Jaheira is a really good call. However, I fail to see why the nationality plays a role in most of your selections. In some cases, it doesn't fit if you think the "stereotype". Khalid isn't one bit British, and neither is Minsc, for example. Sure, others certainly need to consider race, like Yoshimo, Dynaheir and Valygar, but simply saying "BAM, must be japanese" is very restrictive. Yoshimo is "asian", I could see a Korean or Chinese actor play him.

    Some more...

    Lord Jamar as Valygar (if Antiono Te Maioha is somehow not "black enough"):

    I think that Vin Diesel is too short to play Sarevok. You need someone larger-than-life: huge, and very tall, so that he towers over every other actor - a Darth Vader type, who you believe can lift a man off the ground, one-handed, by the throat.
  • KidCarnivalKidCarnival Member Posts: 3,747
    Yeah, I was thinking that, too. I do see the resemblance, possibly due to the edit of Sarevok's portrait with Vin Diesel's face. Jason Momoa or Manu Bennett (though he isn't that tall either), maybe?

    @KidCarnival, I looked up Jason Momoa, and he's 6'4". Considering his portrayal of Kal Drogo in Game of Thrones, he gets my vote for Sarevok. Put him in armor, maybe shave the beard, and yup, Sarevok.

    Found this:
