I'm sure it has been said before but it bears repeating now: get the multiplayer working so that it doesn't take a rocket scientist to get it working. We should be able to do what was done in NWN: choose between network or online play, lobbies, and optional passwords.

My only complaint with BG multiplayer was not on the technical aspect but on campaign side of things. It was a lot of pain unless you decided to play with experimented known players.
For example NWN multiplayer sessions with random or untrained players is easier to enjoy because if someone dies, at worst he can just chose to get an experience penalty and respawn somewhere and then teleport or run back to the team.
If there was a point on which I would have love to see BG MP improved is about having the multiplayer game flow be more friendly with such "game stopping" events. At least optionally, so even non hardcore gamers can enjoy a smooth multiplayer experience without having to stop and reload the whole thing every time really bad stuff happens.
Services like GameRanger and Hamachi help a lot in terms of old BG MP.
