ToB : Draconis should have been Abazigal fight

It seems that Draconis is much more giving a fight than his father.

Abazigal is just a straight hack'n slash and, on the other side, Draconis requires much more efforts if you want to put him down.

Not only the human form is resourceful as it is a mage and not a warrior, but the dragon form can also heal, haste and those other spell that could make the fight last forever... if your characters have not already been turned to pulp.

For Abazigal, who is just a hit point bag, you just have to use your HLA and attack recklessly until he is down (of course after a well-used magic dispel).

I guess then Draconis (unless the improved alacrity / time stop / and so on trick) will remain one of the hardest boss in these games (though I have a love for vanilla Icewind Dale's Yxunomei's fight which is damn stressing ^^).

The most annoying part I find about Draconis is that he uses the combo of invisibility, running away and wing buffet. It's hard to make contact for long and maneuver in the battlefield. However, Draconis's human form is a joke since he attacks w/ normal weapons.

Actually, draconis's combat script (time stop+symbols+attack with main weapon) is so interesting that I used near infinity to give it to other enemies in the game! That way a drow wizard will cast a time stop and attack with sword, Illasera will cast time stop and cast energy blades (which I also give her!) .

It depends who he decides to attack ^^

If it's not your main character, it will hurt a lot :p

He is one of the more interesting battles, much more so then his old man....Bazzy is just hit 7-10 times in one round, transform, die instantly on the next hit to AotU cause someone forgot to add immunity to instant death to his dragon form.

His son was a pain in the neck. I had my party raring to go and was like potection from fear? Who needs that? Pfft.....And of course the guy with the long sword of dragon slaying is running like a coward so it was a battle of my squishy summons and my two mages Nailia and Imoen against Draconis. I only killed him because eventually the fear wore off.

Protection from fear can be easily dispelled by the dragon or by your own spells, unfortunately. The only good thing with the Cavalier over Inquisitor IN BG2 (yes in BG2) was the fact he never started running around in a battle ^_^

Arent there like an extra dragon in the Abizgal fight in Ascension? I think I tried that once combined with Tactics. I was Shock how my party got slaughtered in couple rounds.

There was. First time playing TOB and I decided to play with ascension. Lets just say I felt very, very accomplished when I finally beat him.

Maybe the "extra dragon" was Draconis' mother? I've always wondered where the lady dragon was. Abazigal couldn't have had a son by himself.
