So! it's time for a new playthrough

Been some time now since I finished my first BGEE run, and now... It is time for a new one! Hurray :D

As always I have a hard time picking my toon and party, so maybe someone here could give me some fun and interesting ideas for a game ? :)

    Wild mages are fun

Fighting sarevok, just me and Neera vs Sarevok. All his lackeys are dead. I command neera to cast magic missile, all I have left. She tries to cast it but theeeeeen...

    Wild surge: Sex change.

    true story.

I could make a wild mage toon and bring along Neera for the ride. Guess I could try my luck by only using the lvl1 wild mage spell :p

I have to do that at some point, but for this playthrough I wanted something a little less...... You know

What was your last character? Are you looking for something fightery or magey? Or maybe a Thief/Cleric?

I am not looking for anything specific tbh. I am just looking for ideas/tips on what others like playing :)

My last party was mostly evil with a cleric/illusionist gnome as my main man.

6 thieves, Shar dualled backstabber, Imoen, Safana, Skie......maybe Monty and or Coran
You as a Dwarf or half orc thief for regeneration.

I alway wanted to do this one but haven´t so far.

Half-orc thief sounds like fun, maybe I should make him a Swashbuckler and manmode it. I do like the odd backstab, but I always felt it to be so abusive.

I'm a fan of the Jester, especially since the jester's song is actually useful in BG1. Although if you plan on soloing it, things might get frustrating. Confusing gibberlings and chasing them round the map could get old.

As for parties, I found carrying Edwin, Alora, Montaron and Xzar around to be fun. Edwin and Alora get along great, while Montaron and Xzar abuse each other, it's like a strange awkward double date situation.

I also found having Jaheira, Khalid, Kivan, Faldorn and Tiax to be fun. The first four are all nature lovers while Tiax will try to claim dominance over nearly every type of map. If you want to play a hippie druid playthrough this is the group to take.

The best banter party is Garrick, Skie, Eldoth, Shar-Teel and Xan. Although Shar-Teel and Eldoth will kill each other. It's also one of the more challenging party combos.

Another fun thing is to carry Coran, Safana and three other females. Except Imoen, don't bring Imoen cause she's defective. Coran will try to hit on the women in the group. It's even more fun when you play around with the cheat console to have Coran as player 1, then it's basically you and five other women of whom you try to seduce. It's like Charlie's Angels meets Baldur's Gate.

I haven't checked if the command to remove player 1 works with the cheat console but it works with a modded BG1.

Run a Paladin. Dual Immy to mage at 4 after she hits 100 in Find Traps and gets a new weapon Proficiency. Use the console to recruit Alora first thing. Recruit Viconia first thing.

Viconia is so sour and Alora and Imoen are so cheerful. And Viconia picks on Alora hehe~ "Why are you always so mean to me when I'm nice to you!" And your Paladin is by definition a Goddy Goody Do Gooder!

See if you can make Viconia's head explode from the cheerfulness!

I have Neera and Jaheira filling in the restof the group FYI.

It will be a 6-person party game, I always enjoy the company and banther the game offers. I will also be playing this party (or atleast main char) in bg2ee, whenever that goes live.

So far my idea for the party leans towards the insane... Dorn, Shar-teel, Edwin/Xzar, monty and Baeloth comes into question. I need my character to fit into this somehow.
I want to add Sarevok into the band of merry killers in tob, because I think my main char would like that. Sarevok was a worthy enemy after all and he would probably make good friends with the likes of Dorn and Korgan.

I was thinking about rolling a female character for this party, I want to get on Dorn`s sweetside and embrace the madness of a brutal merciless couple that kills for enjoyment, but is also very charming, polite and "friendly" when they need to be... Like proper psychopaths :D
So what company would Dorn enjoy? Perhaps the sneaky yet feral nature of an evil fighter/thief? Or maybe a sharper mind, like a (wild)mage?

Evil jester! That was the most fun I had. Charname - neutral evil jester; dualed Xzar as cleric, Dorn, Kagain, dualed Shar-Teel as thief, Edwin. As alternative, it works to have Monty frontlining instead of Dorn (you just need Dorn to get your Elven Chain) and Baeloth as 6th. It's somewhat overpowered (as any party with Baeloth is), but it's "something different" to have no damage dealer on the frontline and depend on stealth, backstab and magic alone.

Jester does sound like a fun option!
I am torn between playing the Jester, a Sorceress or fighter/thief. I guess its time for a d6 roll to figure this one out, leave something to fate. :)

What weapons did you use for the Jester, and did you enjoy/play it as much in Bg2 ? (non enhanced ofc...)

Play the biggest brute you can create and muscle through every situation. A no mage playthrough.

My dice landed on the Fighter/Thief for my evil party, so that is what I will stick to! :)
I have been thinking about doing a Lets play with this party, but not sure if I got the time.

Anyway, thx for the ideas, you are all sexy people!.

Ranged, darts or crossbow (of speed) and melee mace (Stupifier, though that's more roleplay than anything). I mostly use the jester as scout, invisible and singing, to amuse myself with confused mobs killing themselves; and debuff/crowd control. I'm barely ever visible, so melee isn't very important. If I'm not invisible, it's because I'm casting Sleep, Blindness, Glitterdust, and enemies still can't see me. That's where you become ridicolously powerful with Baeloth - you can either give him even more Invisibility spells, or focus entirely on damage spells. Jester song ignores magic resistance, there is a good chance you confuse everything but a boss and can simply stand in the middle of a mob and wait for them to slaughter each other, so Invisibility is THE spell here.
I played Black Pits with my jester and usually, he and the mage were the only ones left standing. It's also funny to confuse the fire giant.

I didn't play BG2 as Jester, and probably won't because the enhanced song will be the same as other bards and basically take away the thing that makes jesters special.
