Is Demon Knight (the one in the cut scene in upper level of Durlag tower) too easy to kill?

Maybe I was veeeeery lucky, but i just used once the wand of paralyzation (no greater malison or something like that) and he was stunned.
Killing him after that was a piece of cake :)
Was it supposed to be that easy? Or he just broke the dice when he tried to Save vs. Wands?
I was playing core rules, no Mods.
I don't think it's important to mention that the NPC who used the wand was YOU KNOW WHO.

It's pretty much luck. If the Wand of Paralysation hits him, then he's a joke. However, I've spent over 15-20 minutes just reloading and trying to stun him, and I've had it stun him instantly on different playthroughs. You just got lucky, so revel in your extra Plate of the Dark and Helm of Opposite Alignment!

So I was very lucky :)
    But what about magic resistance?
I'm pretty sure that all my magic missile hit him.

That wand is pretty much instant death for anything. And is very difficult to resist, as well, a save vs wands at -4 is equalevant of a save vs spells at -3! (save vs wands is generally 1 lower than save vs spells) Even finger of death forces a save vs spell at -2!

He has no magic resistance whatsoever, unlike his "real self" at the bottom. It's the only area where this DK's stats are worse (-20 vs. -1 AC, 325 vs. 125 HP, and all 0 saves as mentioned before). The DK you're meant to fight has 85% MR.

Yes, lucky roll. That sometimes happens. Like when I killed the Shadow Dragon in one hit with my monk's Quivering Palm in BG2.

So no XP is the perfect reward for this fight. :)
The worst part is that now I have to kill Ike, because the DK didn't cast any fireball, I didn't bought the ward from Ike (assuming he was going to die), and now Ike isn't talking to me :)
Maybe I will simple reload the game and let the DK do what he's supposed to do.

I usually just use an Oil of Speed, Potion of Fire Resistance, and equip the Ring of Fire Protection on my heavy hitters and just rush him. He usually dies in like 5 seconds, just after he has time to launch one of his fireball things. If you want it even easier, you can also use some Potions of Heroism/Power and strength potions.

Oh, I just noticed you meant the one in the upper level. The blurb above was referring to the bottom level one.

I just smash his face in without any stuns, potions, or spells

The number of poison saves my halfling with 19 cons fails is too damn high!

Wait, that was supposed to be a memething, wasn't it?
