Using this 'board of numbers' which helps you determine your bhall spawn by using a number generator (http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/17887/create-a-random-game-optional-no-reload-speed-game-contest-included-spoilers#latest)
I rolled a female, hal-elf druid shapeshifter, with 7 re-rolls for abilities which landed me a score of 82, I am trying minimal reloads set on hard difficulty.
I have to say I would recommend using the generator, it is so fun to play something different and randomly made. I am absolutely thrilled with my party and how it has changed and adapted throughout the chapters, surprisingly being a weaker class than what I normally used to, I can say it is refreshing stepping out of the spotlight and making the whole party as the main protagonist, I also feel like I'm utilizing this character more than I have done with past characters due to the weaker spell selection and its werewolf form.
The trick with the shapeshifter is to know when to cast and when to shape change, the werewolf form though is awful in some regards, it moves faster than most things which is great for kiting, it has a good armour rating for survivability and with the right gauntlets it can deliver decent damage to enemies. It also gives you a lot of weight allowance and works well with pre-buffs like potions of power.
I have found myself using good berry to help early levels as hp is so low they can make a difference and the berries are permanent. I have also found out the charm spell the druids have is not just for animals (which I think may have been originally (unsure though_, it can charm people, with the combination of doom allows for easy charming.
I have used find traps spell to avoid traps, entangle to stop heavy melee enemies from advancing, and I have been altering my spell list when I know there will be prominent problems within a chapter/certain areas to make sure I am utilizing everything I can for my druid.
The Journey Thus far:
My party has been relatively neutral starting small and growing larger and developing constantly. Off the bat Imoen and I went to friendly arm inn because Gorion told us too, but tarnesh proved to be to powerful (minimum reload: his mirror image was not worth the risk.) so we fled to Beregost picking up Kagain, who was eager for gold and to help him look for a caravan which we found, we then killed Tarnesh with kagain absorbing the fear. We spoke to Dorn in the Inn and declined Jaheria and Khalid's offer of help, wanting to build my own destiny. I Visited high henge due to rumours of powerful magic items, recruited Kivan as a result and bought some healing potions from the wizard of high henge.
we headed for Nashkel, but through overconfidence and a rushed pace I ended up losing everyone but me to the fastest dart thrower in the west forgetting how powerful he was (lesson learned).
I had to scrape up some coin to revive everyone. we ignored Rasad as he annoys me, I bumped into Minsc but his demands (I was reading his text from a logical point of view) made little sense and I wanted to ask further questions before I offered to help him, but he just screamed at me and attacked, I did not want to kill him so I tried to flee but he died from guards, I felt sad and checked if he dropped Boo, He didn't .
With the confusion of what had happened I decided I needed magic support, so reluctantly I accepted Edwins demands to help him kill a "witch", with my own plans to overthrow him in the end, when he least expected it.
Seconds later we bumped into noober which without faill (I always Kill him.... on sight.) Kivan brilliantly rolled high and got a well deserving 'critical hit' which made me laugh and trample over his body to get the Ahnkeg armour.
Our party went to the gnoll stronghold doing little side questy stuff like finding ruffie and the dead cat in the waterfall and all that jazz, we rose victorious in the stronghold and found dyerahanasaurus-rex (whatever her name is spelt like). Whom seemed calm and welcoming so I could not personally kill her, I left Edwin and her to argue and recruit whoever had survived the battle between them.
Funnily enough both Edwin and Dye were unarmed and had no spells, so it turned out to be a battle of infinite epicness where Edwin constantly put dye unconscious.
After about 5 minutes amused by this repeating punch-fest, I was true to my intentions and transformed into a werewolf and gibbed dye, Edwin had her unconscious over and over and was the clear winner.
We went to Nashkel Mines picking up Dorn as his revenge would balance the scales of justice and we needed a hard hitter. Imoen and Kivan became uneasy of how evil my party was becoming so I decided to go straight into the mines to investigate the local iron shortage, thinking I can get some reputation to ease Imoen and Kivan that my intentions are good.
Through the mines I went, mutilating the kobolds and beating up the Half-Orc Muhaley, I ditched horrible Edwin for the positively negative Xan, enchanters are my new favourite mage, due to the bonus to enhcnating spells like sleep and charm and due to the lack of main damaging spells it has resulted in me using spells like slow, spook and horror more often to crowd control. as time went on I gained levels avoiding the areas with Basilisks and Sirens for when I have my dream team.
Once we got the information we needed and cleared the bandit camp we headed straight for Cloakwood, which resulted in my first death, fucking ettercaps ¬_¬.
We found Eldoth who talked of riches and Skie, I wanted to help so I recruited him (Removing Imoen) due to the increasing danger of our mission I sent Imoen to the friendly arm Inn in hopes she would help Khalid and Jaheria, she is dear friend of mine and I do not want her to die especially after the near deaths of poison. Realising my lack of thief I backtracked to a bridge and found Coran, at this moment I decided Kivan could seek his revenge alone, we slaughtered many bandits together and he helped me solve the iron shortage greatly, I thought it was about time for us to part.
Coran is much better than kivan so our band continued and easily forgot Kivan and we sold all of his equipment.
Me, Coran, Eldoth, Kagain, Dorn and Xan began slaying many mighty beast like the sword spiders and that fat woman in the spiders layer, we nearly died many times by Ettercaps, and I found death again by luring all the large wyverns out of that cave and became sandwiched between them and some rocks.
We entered the dwarven mine and found Yeslick and though I love the name I had to let him free, I used the first weaker insect plague to defeat Daveorn though Dorn delivered a hefty blow which Gibbed him in the end.
We have cleared everything Bandit related, we now have access to Baldur's gate which allowed Dorn to exact his revenge after following his quest line up, we helped out Eldoth so the elven chain was very shortlived and dismissed him as Dorn felt he was untrustworthy due to a conversation that sparked up and I find Skie very annoying. I replaced him with Tiax as I needed more thief skills and some new cleric type spells.
After buying some arrows of piercing and arrows +2 I decided I should clear up outstanding areas, I eventually bumped into Drizzt, Tiax now wears a wonderful blue Chainmail and my werewolf with dispelled claws holds Icing Death.
I am now clearing my favourite areas and sadly I replaced Kagain, after all his help I could not resist the need to take Baeloth with me as I never knew you could recruit him before. It took me ages to decide who should be left behind. Tiax was my next choice but he makes me laugh too much, I need his moral support and if he rules all, he will let me live.
The adventure still continues but it has been very funny and have been trying new tactics, I recommend equipping barges Beserker two handed sword and use Tiax to remove curse when Dorn has chucked many bandits :P

It really is fun to change things up with this random generation system. I like that you're doing it minimal reload because, honestly, no-reload rarely let's you complete a game. (No-reload has more tension to it, though.)
At some point in a future game you might want to try adding party members via the random generation system for that (i.e,, using the WotC dice roller) swapping them out as the mood strikes you.
That right there would be a hybrid version of what we're doing with the no-reload speed game challenge. Heck, for that matter this version of the random generation system could be a speed game challenge in its own right.
