How To Use Custom Portraits (Non-Enhanced Edition: Dungeons and Dragons Anthology)

So, I tried custom portraits the old way for Dungeons and Dragons Anthology/Baldur's Gate. . . it didn't work. . . How do I it with that older version?

you need portait pack that works from sorcerers place or something

    copy portrait file
    open the copy in paint
paste your portrait into that copy
    save
    rename to new portrait file

repeat for large and small portait

But what I want to do is to specifically make my own custom portraits. :|

    pasted from the readme:

    Custom Portraits:

The measurements for player portraits are 38X60 pixels for
the smaller portraits (8-bit color runs faster but it can be
up to 24 bit color), and 110X170 pixels for the larger
portraits. To use a custom portrait, place it in the
Portraits directory (in the install directory for the game)
and add an S to the end of the small portrait name and an L
to the end of the large portrait - otherwise the two names
must be identical. The names must be 1-7 letters long,
maximum - so the filename with the S or L added to the end
is no longer than 8 total characters. The portrait files
    must be in BMP format.

    For example:
    XXXXXXXS.bmp for small (38x60, 8-bit)
    XXXXXXXL.bmp for large (110x170, 24-bit)

Hm . . . I did that. . . or at least I thought I did. And it came out very strangely.

    Just in case:
If you're running Windows Vista, 7, or 8 don't install old games in Program Files or its (x86) pendant.

I'm sorry, I don't understand what you just said. :(

To avoid the security nonsense and administration privileges and what not not, do not install games in the Programs Folder. Make a folder under your C: drive called Games and install all of your games there to avoid the security headaches.
