Tazok and the bandit camp....

Hi I'm just wondering what the best way to do the bandit camp part of chapter 3 is?. I know if you go to larswood or pedvale, you have the option of joining the bandits or just killing then.

I don't want to miss out on items, but also don't want to miss out on dialogue.

Should I just kill the bandits in larswood and pedvale then go to the bandit camp and trash it? Or join them and walk thru camp to get the papers from the tent?

I joined at first but then tazok buggered off and went on a scout trip or something....I wanted to fight him.

Any help would be appreciated and please share any experiences...

Thanks.:-)

I think the items are pretty much the same. IF you join the bandits you will be ivited to the camp, this means everyone is friendly, if you go for slay all, you will meet enemies all the way. Not impossible to overcome, but there are some pesky archers. Once you reach the main tent you will have to start attacking anyway.
    Just 2 different approaches.

Not sure if they changed this but if you joined the bandits, Tazok attacks you to find out if you're the right stuff. It was possible to kill him if you made it impossible for him to initiate dialog = some cool items. I believe this was changed in BGEE, but not sure...

You will get your chance to fight Tazok. Later.

The last two times out I actually reversed the way the Bandit Camp encounter was supposed to go. I walked the party west to east along the South portion of the map. None of the encounters there have much to do with the camp. I was then able to come upon the main tent from the south east, still without having to encounter anything from the rest of the camp. Entering the tent, the battle was tough, but the party was relatively fresh, and so the encounter was easier. On leaving the tent ( I may have had to fight one or two opponents, but the rest of the camp was still not alerted). I then made off again to the south east. The party rested and recovered spells and then came back the same way and mowed through the camp east to west (the opposite to the way that may have been intended by the game creators). I felt as though I had flanked everybody.

A think this strategy can be justified in role playing because I assume my scout character was able to guide the party along the perimeter of the camp without being seen, in order to locate and directly attack the main objective.

I totally agree, that's why you have scouts =)

Though there is a full plate on one of the boss types which is good if you have a couple people doing heavy armor and don't want to spend the gold buying it.

I talk my way into the camp. Do the fight in Tazok's tent, because it's closed off the people outside don't aggro so I rest up, then lay siege on the camp

Talk with Tazok. Kill Tazok. Kill everyone else.

You're the child of Bhall and you talk of not going on a killing rampage? More like Child of Rao.

If I'm playing a Paladin or similar I just stride in and smite the bandits.
