I'm contemplating on which Baldur's Gate building to create next. I've started doing all these giant builds, and even though there are a lot of big castles and what not in Baldur's Gate, none are as big and complex enough for my current tastes.
The one I'm building atm for instance, is so big, that even with mods and 6 GB of allocated RAM, I still can't get even 1/4 of the chunks loaded.
Here's a screenshot:
The big castle has a total of 12 levels (counting all the individual towers as one). The village that can be seen in the left corner stretches all around the castle. And the giant surrounding walls stretches about 15 times as far. About 90% of the interior in the towers are done, along with all the houses, but the big levels in the bottom part of the castle still needs major work.
And from a different ankle:
I'm using shaders for all the nice lighting effects and what not. Just look at what they can do; an actual lighthouse:
Anyone got any ideas for a huge aesthetically beautiful building from the Forgotten Realms lore?
EDIT: Also, these pictures are actually a bit out-dated now. With 1.8, armor-stands and a few commandblocks, all the walls are now manned by archers and the grounds have soldiers being trained here and there. A long with banners, this was an amazing update for my castle-building needs. ^^
Now that looks great. The original have very unique spires, but they would be impossible to build with blocks. ^^ Everything else I could do in an afternoon though.
The NWN2 version however, looks very interesting. And I admit I'm thinking of a way to create commands to spawn a miniature frozen enderdragon for the statues, though I'm not sure if I could create the head only. It might be possible if each part is seen as a different entity, though I doubt it.
But yeah, I might create Darkhold at some point, though with my own take on it, since I wouldn't want to copy someone else's copy.
Minecraft will be on hold for now though, what with IWD:EE and CIV:BE being released very soon (two of the most time-consuming game series. Bye bye social life, cya when I cya). Not to mention I just (finally) ordered a PS4 today.
@Zanian In the NWN2 one, there are even people hanging from the bridges between the towers swaying in the breeze.
That is actually also possible to do in Minecraft. ^^
Also, having been playing IWD again, I now want to build the Severed Hand fortress. xD With all the circular shapes it would have to be a mega-build though, probably 5:1 in scale. 'Looking forward to getting my eyes pixilated already, hehe.
