Why is my NPC reaction so low?

I am trying to get that quest at Cloakwood wood lodge, and I have ajantis with algernons cloak and 18 rep, but his NPC reaction is still only 8. My main char Is lawful evil, so maybe that affects it? I dont know, but I really want the xp from that quest -.-

    Is it possible the ability to swap party leaders for a temporary charisma boost has been... enhanced?

    That's +8, not 8.

    As for the quest, you need to do it before Chapter 5.

    I havent even completed Cloakwood yet, I forget exactly what he says but its something like "I dont need to talk to you, so get a way from me!" whenever I try to talk to him.

    It maeks me sah sad :(
