how long should it take for my friend and i to connect?

im trying to host a multiplayer but i cant seem to get him to connect he has my IP address but when he tries to join me it says joining selected session this may take awhile please wait and nothing happens mean while im stuck sitting in the six slotted character selection screen is this where he will show up? why is it taking so long? also im using steam.

You've not set up your port forwarding. One of the stickies probably has it. Otherwise just do a search for "Port Forwarding".

Can not seem to find Port Forwarding in a search and not sure i could even set it up if i wanted to seeing as i don't know how.

It takes about 2 hours to connect.

Just follow the instructions one at a time. It only takes 5 minutes.

When my friend finally figured out the port forwarding, finding his game was pretty much instantaneous.
