Have you ever gone into multi player by your self and made your own team up? Just wanted to see if anyone else has ever done that.

I use that to make myself a thief because none of the NPC thieves really do what I want one to do...

I've done it. I used to to do it before I discovered Shadowkeeper, and learned how to customize NPCs. Much more convenient to do it like that imo, plus you keep banter, romance, and stuff.

The short answer is yes, it has definitely been done before.

I always create an extra character in mp and then copy the save into single player save folder and continue from there, taking the npcs as usual. I get to have a personal pc and a npc at the same time! (They could be childhood friends, lovers, step brother, personal guard, etc)

Short search on google would reveal the answer yes it's been done before. I made an all Mage party doing that

I often create more than one character for a play through. Two is very common for me, but I often do three. The most I've ever created is five, just to save a spot for Imoen. Its not BG without Imoen.

I almost always create two characters. #1 is the main character, and #2 to romance Amber in SOA. I then move the save over to single player and have all the dialog and such.

I often use multiplayer to create more than one PC for a campaign (then move it to single player to use the normal interface) - like @atcDave two is common for me sometimes 3 sometimes all six for "theme parties".

This works well for me in BG1 where there is very limited banter and no personal quests to speak of from the original NPCs that one might miss but in BG2 I rarely use more than 2 or at most 3 PCs so I keep the more extensive banter and personal NPC quests.

I do this from time to time.. but it's more often than not to build several characters at once with clua xp.. so i can easily compare them against one another.

I never want to miss out on NPC's, so I've never done that fully, or a solo run. I tried making two extra characters just to see how insane my party would be with a great archer and kensai to backup my sorceror.. pretty insane..

I've done it once with a full party of six so that way I have six characters I can import when BG2:EE is release.

Ain't nobody got time for that...

I did it twice: once to make an all-bard party, with 4 bardic girls, Eldoth and Garrick. They were called 'the singing sisters', something like the Carter family, but it wasn't an easy playthrough as I kept confusing whom is doing what in combat as they all looked so much alike.

The other playthrough was were I made a party of me with my little nephew and nieces (*), to show them when they were at my house to celebrate my birthday. They had lots of fun seeing how 'they' got involved in battling Nimbul and the oldest child of my brother was proud when his character was the only one left standing when Nimbul cast Sleep and he was the only one that made his save and subsequently slew Nimbul.

I will gift the oldest BGEE this month, as he'll become 13, old enough to play BGEE.

(*) by making photo's of them dressed up in 'historic' costumes in an archeological themepark into bmp-portraits.

@Son_of_Imoen that's adorable (and I don't mean that in a condescending tone). I was introduced myself to BG by an uncle as well, when I was around 13.

I wish I had that much patience with kids.

Sure, a number of times over the years. And because there actually isn't much banter in BG1 you're not missing out on much that way (even at its most, there's very little).

I'm playing such a game right now: Wizard Slayer led Anti-Arcane-Magic Party - custom party of six mage-killers (spoilers)

I've also tremendously enjoyed playing a party of four specialist mages who cast only their own school's spells, exclusively. The party also included a Mage/Thief and Cleric, just for the convenience factor of having those class skills available. Strategically, the game was all about spellcasting. The only martial combat there was in this game was when the enemy closed in and party members in some cases used a melee weapon to tie up an opponent while others casted.

I also once created an Arthurian Knights party using the Dark Side of the Sword Coast mod (now in development for BG:EE) which was one of the funnest games I can ever recall playing.

And I once enjoyed playing with a husband and wife duo of Druid (male) and Bard (female) adventuring with any four NPCs that struck my fancy, and that was a lot of fun too. This was many, many years ago. I had wanted to try getting the most out of a Druid and Bard, having never used either class before. But anyway, it was a fun game. I was surprised at how much I liked that couple.
