Mouse keeps disappearing

in New Players (NO SPOILERS!)
My mouse pointer keep disappearing when in the inventory section especially when I try to place items in armor slots or to the ground. I can still move the mouse and see like movement but I cant get it to function, I have to use Control Alt Delete to exit out and start over. I'm using Steam Account I purchased the game through Amazon.com.

When I go to quit, I click on quit and it continues to run it may shut down or it may not. If it doesn't I have to use Control Alt Delete to exit the game.

Also how do I do updates.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    The Steam version should already be the latest (v2014). For your cursor problem, go to Options -> Graphics and deselect Hardware Mouse Cursor.
