Potions of magic protection stack?

Hey there, at least I had enough time to play BG:EE for quite a good time again, and I discovered magic protection porons stack, I let Khalid gulp two and he had %100 magic resistance. He then gulped potion of cloud giant str and smeared an oil of speed and he massacreed the sirines. They couldn't touch him with spells, their melee attacks also was subject to magic resistance so I profitted from them. With Jaheira's sling and magical bullets he made short work of golems inside pirate cave too, slings are amazing as they gain str damage bonus from the potion and with 2attack/round and speed advantage, golems had no chance. The traps in the cave were all stopped dead cold with Khalid's magic resistance. Wow, Khalid just cleared the whole map by himself and hauled the treasure! Safana was very pleased, and it is a good thing Jaheira was dead (turned into punchison by hobgobs earlier) or that would be a cat-fight...hmm, now that I think about it, I would love to see that! :-D

Anyway, are potions of magic protection supposed to stack? This way you can gulp two and be immune to magic.

They didn't in vanilla, iirc. I'd file it under 'exploit' for now.

They stack in Bg2. The description never said you cant do it.

Wow. Pretty dramatic possibilities in the game if they stack. Maybe keys to the kingdom.

I always thought the potions did set the mr at %50, like cleric spell 'magic resistance'. Given that many potions copy the effects of various spells in varying degrees, it made sense to me. Now, it adds +%50 mr and is stackable with innate MR, and itself. So Viconia or Mr. B can be totally magic-immune with just one gulp. (except sunfire, and dragon breath and imprisonment spells:no enemy uses them)
