A question about Monks and Wizard spells

I need an opinion to understand if the following can be considered a bug.

I was runnning a solo walkthrough with a Monk in BGEE and trying to figure out how to get rid of Aec'Letec. Then I remembered that I got a Wraithform scroll somewhere. This was enough to make the fight with the demon guy almost cheesy.

Now I can't remember if this spell is also present in BG2 and how it works there, but I guess this is supposed to be considered a wizard spell, since it cannot be cast by anyone but Mages (multi or single class) or Monks.

My question is, what's special with monks? Why they should be able to cast wizard spells? Maybe this also happens with other scrolls. My guees is this might be a bug, since this spell becomes way too powerful if it can be used by fighter like classes which can safely ignore the no-casting-spell penalty.

Monks can use clerical scrolls, but they are not supposed to be able to use any mage scroll. I think since wraithform scroll was added later by BG:EE, it has a buggy 'usable by' flag so monks can cast from them. I haven't tried this, though.

I agree with you. Anyway, it has been funny to see at least once a single Monk knocking down Aec'Letec face to face.
