Black pits importing to campain

While playing I noticed that the max level in the black pits was level ten. Before this my idea was to play the black pits and super level my character but realizing the max was level ten i imported my elf archer once i got there. When i was playing i didnt get any xp and stayed at 161,000 out of 900,000 i think it was. i dont know if this is intentional but if it is would i be able to import a level nine out of the black pits to campain and level him up past ten?
