BG2EE - Question

I'm still waiting on the new patch before I actually attempt to play and finish BG:EE. I only ever played the original Baldur's Gate once, a long time ago, so needless to say I'm excited to play it once patched...as at the moment for me it's just unplayable (Tethoril! Journal Bugs!).
That being said, I've finished BG2 more times than I care to remember and I rank it as one of my Top 3 games of all time. As such I'm a bit concerned about the remake and exactly what improvements/additions are being made?
Playing it and Throne of Bhaal through now with the most up to date patch and the "Unfinished Business" mod, I see a game that works, doesn't break and has no bugs, at least no glaring bugs that I can see. The EE for BG introduced a lot of bugs (albeit, it was an older game with a wonkier engine) so I just wonder if sprucing up BG2 will be easier given that it was already patched quite well and fairly bug-free?

There will also be new content. It's still not publicly known what exactly we'll have, but the BG1:EE NPCs are going to make an appearance (at least some of them), and there will be new ones, too. Reportedly the new content is quite extensive, someone mentioned "over 350.000 words" of new dialogue.
Also, there's probably some hard-coded errors and wonky mechanics that have never been "officially" fixed. Mods and workarounds exist, of course, but the EE will make it all official.
So there you have it. Sure BG2 works in its current state, but that's not to say it couldn't be improved. Me personally, I'm very much looking forward to reduced loading times and no interruptions when quick-saving.
