Close call in the Cloakwoods

Had a very fun BG encounter today, and I'd like to share it with you fine folks.
I'm doing a hardcore solo run with my 6th level fighter. My intention was to kill Davedorn before hitting level 7, and then switching to a mage. So, my plan was to use the wolf cloak and run past the fantastic 4 gaurding the entrance to the Cloakwood mines. That was my first mistake, my second mistake was assuming that the 2 mages would spend their first round buffing while I ran by. Things did not go smoothly.
I got 3/4 up the next rope bridge before the enchantment spell caught up to me, I was hoping for Horror, but i got spellbound by rigid thinking! The two fighters and the two gaurds at the front gate caught up to me and proceeded to beat me down from 90 to 23 hl before I regained my senses. The mages did not pusue, luckily. I had not many potions but the ones i did have worked perfectly.
First, I took my last Invisibility potion but I was completely surrounded, so I had no choice but to fight my way out! While invisible I entered human form, drank 7 of my 10 potions of healing, took my heroism potion, and then I entered beserker mode before laying waste to all 4 of them.
I hit level 7 by 14 xp, so I had to switch to mage rather than waste xp on a maxed out level. So, I could either soldier on, or figure out a way past the two mages. I chose the later. The only decent potion left was magic blocking, so that gave me a 5 round window to attack or run by. I used my dagger if venom and killed them both! Then I ran back to my room and gathered all my wizard stuff!
Anither one of those times when you write off your character and somehow he pulls through.
