Serious problems playing the game!

Okay, I bought this game to play on my older laptop while I'm home for the summer and the game is nearly unplayable. Almost everything in the game seems to run fine but the characters are moving extremely slow. I know my laptop can handle this game because it played Icewind Dale 2 with zero lag and Neverwinter Nights with just a tiny bit of lag at certain times. The lag on this game is pretty extreme. Is there any fix? I'd really like to be able to play this and hopefully BGEE2.

    Do you know if the laptop uses an Intel Graphics chipset?

    As the game is not entirely compatible with those...

    'Twould be more accurate to say that Intel's Windows drivers blow chunks (specifically, they have poor to non-existent support for OpenGL). Sometimes it is instead the OEM that screws you over by gimping the drivers, or not putting out updated ones.
