What if person X dies in BG1, are they dead in BG2 as well?

Lets say I wanna get rid of Khalid/Jaheria or Dynaheir, by dying, will that affect anything in BG2? Will they still be considered in the canon party and be at the start?

Party deaths don't carry over either way in BG2. The assumption made is that you finished the game with the PC, Imoen, Khalid, Jaheira, Minsc and Dynaheir. Many other NPCs will be referenced or have some role to play. But the only thing that really carries over from your save is your character details (and a couple of possessions).

They will still be there at the start of BG2 even if they die in BG1.

Hahahaha nope. The game is far too old to be anywhere near that smart.

They covered for it a little, in that you can make comments about it to certain characters ... You can say to both Xzar and Edwin something along the lines of "Shouldn't you be dead?" Amusing stuff.

A certain DnD celebrity will remember if you killed him, though...

    Khalid, eh?
Khalid will always be dead at the start of BG2, regardless of what you do in BG1. So I guess your choice did not matter at all, in a way ;)

Oh I know that, I have finished BG2 (...never finished Bg1though, but will soon) I just wondered if Khalid wasnt among your party, would Jaheria be gone then as well to begin with?

In a world where 'raise dead' and 'resurrection' are available in every temple, death isn't really that much of a continuity problem. ;)

Too be fair, didnt you read the news on foxnews yesterday?
A woman woke up in a hospital while they (the surgeons) were going to dissect her and take out her organs, after being prounced dead.

See, people have "died" medical and yet woke up to life again, countless of stories about that :P not every "lifeless" body is truly dead.

ps! im swedish and rarely read news on foxnews, got this bizarre news linked to me :)

Only if you still have his equipment though.
