Fighter/Thief guide

Hi, i was thinking of building a human fighter/thief and was just wondering what starting stats and kits should i use?
Also, at which level should i dual class over?
Did the mechanics in this game change significantly from the BG2 engine?

Thanks in advance =D

Probably a berserker....if you intend to dual in BG1...the Kensai just doesn't being enough to the table to be worth it until the sequel (Ever, IMO, since the kensai's true benefits only show by staying true class). The wizard slayer isn't even an option, because it brings nothing but penalties in BG1...and people only use it in BG2 because Use Any Item is brokenly powerful (would be slightly more balanced if kit penalties were retained).

Play with a pure fighter or berserker. Dual class at level 7 (½ APR) 9 (Health) or 13 (Last APR).

    18 Str
    18 Dex
    18 Con
    xx Wis
    xx Int
    xx Cha

The important thing with your F/T is that you get STR, DEX and CON as high as possible.

thanks for the quick reply. Another question would thief/fighter be better or worse?
also, is it possible to choose kits for the class your going to dual into?

    Thanks

    bg1:
    elf fighter/thief
    max 3 stats
    bows/long swords for most bonuses
destroy everything with arrows of detonation

    it would be inconvenient
i would go for single weapon for easy bow/sword switch

but you can dual wield 2 swords

    2 more question =P
does the extra APR at level 13 and health at level 9 necessary for a thief?
Also, can i choose a kit for second class?

    Thanks again

    kit second no
extra apr and health no but it is very good for fighting

You can only choose a kit for your first class. And no, the extra ½ APR isn't necessary, however if you're taking the class through the entire saga, I'd dual at 13.
And if this is only for BG:EE, you don't really have a choice, since you wouldn't be able to get your lvls back if dualing at 9 or 13.
