Sarevok Solo Shapeshifter SCS Help

I can't do it. I plain can't do it. I've solo'd through (with many reloads) and I don't know if it's the SCS version, but Sarevok is just unhurtable

I take out the rest of them with some sneaky fireballs from out their vision. This takes out tazok, angelo and semaj, but Sarevok's stops 99% of the damage. Once it's just him (and usually a skeleton warrior) i summon 4 nymphs, I lower his saving throws and they use hold monster and we all go to town on him.

but even with 6 or 7 rounds of Sarevok being held, I can't get him lower than barely injured, any help?

summon more cast on him doom + poison

but i get it he is pretty hard to kill solo without buffing and i suppose you can't really buff with shapeshifter while fighting solo

plz record and post on youtube for science!

If you have scs, you need to kill all of his henchmen and their skeleton warrior incarnations. This will trigger a final speech from Sarevok that will say he is vulnerable now etc. and you then can kill him. Before that, he is pretty much invulnerable.

@zur312 what software do i need to record?

@lunar that makes sense, his regen was unbeatable. once i had the battle down to him and the skeleton warrior i charmed the SW and we pounded on him, but we still couldn't kill him...

in that case i think i have a strategy.

fireball the henchmen, draw out the skeleton warriors kill in werewolf mode, summon nymphs, disable sarevok, kill sarevok!

I would be surprised if poison ever worked on him given his saving throws.

There are a lot of powerful potion, maybe that the solution for you.

    Potions
    Potions
    Potions

    And more potions.

Potions are the strongest and most reliable way to win a fight. You can have the same AC as a full plate wielding warrior, you can put your STR to 25 and you can be completely immune to fire, lightning, magic and much more. There are potions to make you immune to charm, confusion, hold and there are potions that will let you make every saving throw.

I normally save all the potions i can get and then buy every oil of speed i find in the shops. With scrolls and potions you can really buff up your character to amazingly powerful.

Oil of Speed - (haste +1 APR)
Potion of Absorption - (+10 AC crushing, 100% electric resistance)
Potion of Clarity - (Immunity: confusion, fear, charm)
Potion of Storm Giant Strength - (24 STR)
Potion of Defense - (Base armor class 0)
Potion of Heroism - (Hit points, Thac0)
Potion of Invulnerability - (Base AC 0, +5 Saving throws)
Potion of Magic Blocking - (Immune to all level 5 spells and under, so everything in BG1)
Potion of Magic Protection - (50% Magic resistance)
Potion of Magic Shielding - (50% Less damage from all magical spells, all saving throws succeed)
Potion of Mind Focus - (+3 DEX and INT)
Potion of Power - (Thac0, Hit points, All thief skills)
Potion of Regeneration - (Regenerate HP)

You can mix these to get the most out of them, just remember to look at all potions to figure out which to drink first and what to save until last moment.

    Mind Focus + Storm Giant + DuHM : 25 STR 25 DEX in BG1.

Some of these potions require you to be a fighter class (Heroism) but you'll still be able to drink most of the other potions.

In BG2 if you have problem vs mind flayers drink : Potion of Genius + Mind Focus and you'll be fine.

I agree potions are very powerful. Giants str potions require a fighter class to be drunk, however, you can drink the purple potion bought in Nashkel carnival:it will set str to 25 but dex and con to 3. Then you can gulp potions of fortitude and agility to set those scores back to 18. Careful that, purple potions effect lasts a full day while fort. and agility potions are short-times. Still, perfect for a non-fighter pc to get 25 str for the final fight.

A similiar tactic is with potion of stone form:sets ac to 0 and gives +3 to saves, but incurs -3 penalty to dex:gulp a potion of mind focusing (+3 dex and int) to negate the effect.

Heh, I wonder if a dm would give the player a gastritis or massive diarrhea due to so many potions drunk, or make him a potion-junkie.

I don't know what the stats mjs has and if he went for the strength tome or not. But from my understanding DoHM is not enough by itself for a druid to be able to break open that lock . Thats when (since you can't use the fighter strength potions) you need to use the violet potion (otherwise the best you can get on a fully solo run is 21 strength which is only 60 vs 80 for open locks). I guess it depends on if mjs went for it or not. Otherwise it will still be available.

"I take out the rest of them with some sneaky fireballs from out their vision."

Do you mean you are using traps to do this or taking advantage of an enemies arrows of detonation? Since when could druids use fireball scrolls/ fireball wands?

did it! used my strategy well. it seems sarevok is coded as a monster so while hold person doesn't work, the nymph's hold monster does. after summoning 4 of them, one eventually stuck then we all wailed on him.

@lunar actually you didn't need to kill the skeleton warrior incarnations before he becomes vulnerable just the henchman

    so in full

    1. sanctuary in and initiate conversation
    2. hold back till diarmid's (?) magical immunity falls (about 5 RL minutes)
    3. use necklace of the lost (full 25 charges) to blast out of sight till diarmid, tazok and semaj is dead
    4. retreat summon 2 nymphs. approach angelo who's hidden on the left, dispel the majority of his immunities. kite till a nymph's CC hits. wail on him in werewolf mode, kill SW incarnation
    5. sarevok becomes vulnerable. summon 4 nymphs.
    6. move over to sarevok, who's surrounded by SWs. become visible in middle of them, draw sarevok out (who's hasted) till he's at the front of the crowd. drink potion of invisibility
    7. move away till only sarevok is visible. use doom on sarevok. he attacks. all nymphs automatically cast hold monster. sarevok held. dUHM+potion of haste+potion of power + 4 nymphs using cause serious wounds=dead sarevok

    HURRAH!

You need 24 STR to open the lock for the tome in candlekeep, save the potion of storm giant strength you get in the game if you want it.

Unless there is something wrong with the coding storm giant potions only work with warriors / warrior multiclasses.

    @mjs congrats!

You're right it's how a pure fighter get the tome, didn't really think about him being druid.
  • mjsmjs Member Posts: 742
i think scs gives either all druids or just shapeshifters righteous magic, so i was able to crack the lock with DuHM+RM for 24 strength to get the tome
