How do I cast spells?

in New Players (NO SPOILERS!)
I am currently doing the tutorial and I can't figure it out. So I memorized the spell and I rested. After I click the spell icon, and left-click the spell, it just takes me back to the main bar! What am I doing wrong?

    Nevermind, I think I got it.

    You might be trying a wild mage spell? They have a spell that is used to "enchance" another one you currently have memorized, or know, I don't quite remember exactly :P.
