Rashad the healer

Obvious spoilers about the end part of the game in Baldur's Gate.
Read at your own risk!

I like the end game part in the game, where you are wanted by Flaming fists, and have many things to do in the grand city:it can actually be all over the place, and it is fun. You can talk to Tamoko about Sarevok and his plans, failing that, there are a lot of minor characters that try to give you hints. Hussam the Shadow thief, some friendly Flaming fists, and there is a Harper agent named Delthyr. Everyone tells you that Scar is dead, Entar is killed, Eltan is sick and dying and his healer Rashad can't help (which is odd), there are suspicious things going on Iron Throne, and Sarevok is making it big:attempting to become a duke. From there, you can go to Iron throne building to confront Sarevok's girl Cythandria, go to Flaming fists to rescue Eltan from Rashad who is actually a doppelganger, go to Blushing mermaid to kill Sarevok's assasins, then with all the evidence go stop the coronation of Sarevok etc. While avoiding flaming fists all the time!

The Harper agent Delthyr says you can find him in Three Kegs inn later, I went there and talked to him again, he said Rashad is suspicious and he leeaves the building every night, that we should follow him to see where he goes. Now, I always infiltrate Flaming fist using invisibility/stealth and confront Rashad that way. Can you really find Rashad leaving at night and follow him to unmask his treachery like Delthyr suggests? If so, how? I never did that and wondered if that was possible.

I didn't manage it. I just sneaked in with Imoen, found Duke Eltan/Rashad, Imoen got killed, forcing the party to charge and storm the compound by force.

Oh yeah... that part of the game is a bit messy/flawed in my opinion. See having felt like I spoilt my game by reading a walkthrough for Chapter 5, I vowed to not ever look at a guide again for the endgame and just roleplay it.

So I returned to Baldur's Gate... got arrested, insulted Angelo, and poor Imoen got executed (why always her!)... When I eventually bust outta prison with the cooperation of an individual I much rather have just killed, I wandered around until I met somebody who mentioned Scar's murder and Eltan's sickness, and suspicions about Rashad. So seeing as Eltan's life was at risk (and the only survivor left of the two indviduals Elminster told Charname were trustworthy), the party rushed off to save him. Of course in doing so, we learnt about Sarevok's imminent ascension to a Grand Duke, and rushed off with the invitation to prevent it.

Obviously that turned out to be a bad idea when Charname could provide no evidence of Sarevok's evil (JUST LOOK AT HIM!) and was promptly executed by the idiotic Grand Dukes he was trying to save. -.- Charname/I saw no obvious reason to go to the Iron Throne compound, the HQ of the organisation whose leaders we are accused of killing! I wish the game provided more guidance that we should return there for what is an essential plot device. Maybe there were hints, but I missed it, and wasted a good 45mins - 1 hour trying to work out what I did wrong.

i've never done the save duke eltan/rashad the healer thing. i return to bg from candle keep, see tamoko outside sorcerous sundries and learn about cyndathria atop the iron throne, kill her learn about the assassins under the blushing mermaid and then go to the ceremony...i don't even know how you'd find duke eltan!

I've been wondering about this too actually. After talking to Delthyr I've tried waiting for several hours outside the Flaming Fist HQ as well as using Ctrl+T to stand there for several in-game days, but to my knowledge there's no trigger that will cause him to appear outside nor walk anywhere.

My best guess is that it's just not in the game, and that the friendly guard on the second floor of the HQ who informs you that he followed Rashad to the Undercellar once is all the confirmation you can get.

Edit: Looking at Rashad's files, there is an entry in his dialogue reading "What are you doing following me, meat?! If you thought I was to be easy prey, you are gravely mistaken." that indicates following him is indeed possible. However, there doesn't seem to be any script that spawns him anywhere but at the second floor of the HQ. It's possible that this part just wasn't finished.

As for the endgame in general, there are iirc basically three main things you can do before going to the palace:

    - Visit the Iron Throne building again and fight Cythandria, gives you evidence in the shape of Sarevok's diary. Hint obtained through Tamoko.

    - Fight Slythe and Krystin in the Undercellar, gives you evidence in the form of Sarevok's letter to them. Also gets you an invitation to the palace. Obtained mainly through Husam, but other sources as well.

    - Save duke Eltan - unfortunately doesn't seem to provide you with any evidence or actually result in anything - but it does also kind of urgently point you to Slythe and Krystin. The Eltan option is mostly obtained through Delthyr, but Tamoko talks about it as well.

there is quite a few instances in the game where they say something like "rashad goes out in the evening and comes back blah blah" and doesnt actually do it, just like how when you fight the mage that finally gained mind control over jellies, he said he let a few jellies off in the woods to test it out, but if anything you are in badlands/ a desert, and tethtoril talks about how he wouldnt want to see you murdered for your accusations a scant few weeks after gorions murder ( and usually i think, only a few scant weeks? homes more like a few scant months) the game has dialogue like that to make things sound more lifelike, even if it actually doesnt happen
