Siding with Athkatla city watch

I'm playing the BG2 for the 3rd time and I'm Role playing a Paladin. I'm already at Chapter 2 and I have to decide to side with the Shadow Thieves or the Vampires. I heard there was a mod that allows you to side with the Athkatla city watch but I'm having trouble finding it. I'd appreciate it if someone gave me a link of where I can look for this mod

    @Nalrashido
    Alternatives Mod
    And here's a link to the actual download page for the windows version:
    Alternatives Mod (Windows)

    You should check out the readme here:
    Alternatives Readme

    The readme recommends that it be installed with quest pack, and that quest pack be installed first if you do install both, but it seems from the way it's stated that it's only recommended, not required.

    Also, I sort of doubt that you can install it at this point in the game and continue playing, there's a chance that it has to be installed before you start the game, but I don't know for sure so I guess it's worth a try.

    There's a mod from berelinde which offers the option of two additional sides (paladins and a nobleman called Malficus).

    Ding0's questpack has the option to eliminate the Shadow Thieves for the city watch, but only in chapter 6.
    Moreover, it's recommended to extract it first, quitting the installation and then installing the latest BWP Fixpack.

    Glad to hear there's a paladin alternative. That has always been a weak point in the plot as far as I am concerned.

    I always felt that was the whole point of the plot - that you were forced to do something that violates your moral code in order to save your best friend.

    If anything, I'd say the weak point is when you play as an evil character, since it takes away from the whole "moral decision" aspect of the game.

    We can agree to disagree. In my view, a paladin faced with only two choices, both of them bad, will instead of succumbing to the lesser of two evils will create a third option.

    If absolutely forced to choose between Law and Good, a paladin will choose Good. Its hard to argue that helping the thieves stop the vampires isn't Good even if it isn't Lawful because you're working with the Shadow Thieves.

    However, I agree a Paladin will bend over backwards to try and find a third option, and indeed the opportunity to at least go to the paladin HQ and ask for help should have been there even if you're told they can't help you.

    Being faced with tough choices is never a weak point in a plot. There isn't always going to be a choice that "fits" a Jedi/Paladin/Samurai/whatever.
