Forced romance progression via CLUAconsole?

In the original Baldur's Gate you could make the next romance conversation occur (provided all plot conditions met) by typing:
CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("CharacterRomance","Global",1)
This command sets realtime countdown for the next dialogue to 1, thereby forcing the next romance script.
This does not work in BG:EE. Does anyone know the reason why this is and is there another way to trigger the next conversation instead?
