Durlag's tower - 2nd level - 2nd Doppleganger won't appear

When you get to second level, you can (by turning the statues) go to the room with a bed and the room with sparring dummies.
I went to the one with sparring dummies first. Disarmed the traps, but no Doppleganger appeared. Used the second Gargoyle, went to the other room (With the warding stones) and Doppleganger appeared.
Killed the Doppleganger, read all 5 books and I'm stuck there.
When I re-activate the upper room (With the sparring dummies), nothing happens (just the doors open).
The second Doppleganger does not activate, the second (upper) hidden pathway does not appear.

I'm not sure if that's a bug, but I can't continue and reactivating the first Gargoyle does not help.
