Does New Patch Equal New Game?

So as we know, some mods don't work unless you start a new game or in the case NPC's as long as you haven't run into them they will work.

My question is, does this apply to the official patches too, or will I be able to continue my current game with the new additions.

Also, I'm using some of the temporary fixes (such as Firebeards) will the patch remove these automatically from the override folder or do I need to manually do so before patching?

Can't wait for the new patch to come out.

You should be able to continue your current game, but a lot of the content-related fixes won't be apparent until you start a new one.

As far as I know, the patch does not clear your override, so you'll want to remove those files manually--but that being said, most of the hot-fixes should still work with the patch, so not removing them shouldn't cause anything to break.

EDIT: Excuse me while I take my foot out of my mouth--yes, the patch will clear your override folder, so you won't need to remove anything manually.

If you have mods installed, you'll want to back up that folder so that you don't lose your mods.

What does "content-related fixes" mean? Does this refer to fixing broken quests like Firebead's, or new items or situations being added to the game?

Also, should we be concerned that the new patch may create new bugs even while simultaneously fixing others?

With any new patch for any game, you're always better off starting a new game from scratch.Just to be on the safe side.

A lot of work goes into minimizing the risk of this, but it's difficult to eliminate it entirely. Obviously the patch going into open beta is part of this process.

I'd say so as well, especially if playing modded there's no telling what the effects could be. Of course, no real harm in trying, either.
