Can't add NPC to party

in New Players (NO SPOILERS!)
I never got the option to add Garrick to my party. Am I bugged?
I did the Silke quest but it was never an option afterwards.

    Did you talk to Garrick after when he's just standing around?

    What's your Charisma and Reputation at?

    Yes I did there were no choices, my cha is 18 and my rep is 12. and if I choose to kill silke isn't he supposed to approach you about joining your party?

    EDIT: nevermind, quick saved and reloaded and it works now lol
