There's not a whole lot of choices in BGEE. I suggest the +2 Longsword looted off of Greywolf. Also, the Longsword +1 Flame Tongue is quite good as well.

Edit: Are you sure you don't want a nice axe instead?

the best one handed axe information would be helpful!

Best Long sword is probably the Varscona +2 dropped off Greywolf. Or the Daystar long sword you find deep in Dulrag's Tower (although that seems too much of a hassle for a sword only)
otherwise... gamebanshee.com has got an item database - regrettably, no BGEE-specific items. Yet.

Isn't it called Burning Earth or Flame Tongue or something like that?

You are right. Probably. Daystar is a similar sword in BG2. It's Flame Tongue I think.
Just a huge flaming sword you can use to smite evil and roast sausages.

    I would never give a Barbarian 1Hand weapons :D.

    Spider's Bane +2
    THS + 3 (Durlag Tower)

Two Handed Spec for +1 damage, speed, and extra crits.

    ... level "36" human male Barbarian ...

Level 36? Are you serious? A level 36 character against BGee opponents doesn't even need a longsword, he could just kill every enemy with his teacup. If your character is going to be so ridiculously over-powered, what's the point in playing at all?

Barbarians have armor restrictions though, and giving them a one-handed weapon still allows them to use a shield or the single weapon style (giving them an extra AC bonus).

Also, since BG2, these classes are routinely changed into dual-wielding DamageDealers. Why getting more defense, when you can kill your foe within 1 round with superior damage and AttacksPerRound ? (Basically the whole story behind a Kensai) A Barbarian, under Barbarian Rage and/or Haste can dish out a world of hurt, while having better AC than a Kensai and most of the group (save fullplate-donning Fighters or Clerics)
Of course, 1h does give an option to wield a Shield in special events (meeting the Beholders...)

P.S.:also, the Long Swords in BG2 have lots of other effects and special spells on them, while a two-hander has usually less.

Barbarians are a good candidate for dual-wielding and get a lot of mileage out of a flail available in BG2 that adds damage reduction.

With 20% base damage reduction and 20% from the flail in the offhand (+40% short-term with fighter HLAs) they can mitigate a large amount of damage. Dwarven defenders will benefit similarly.

Best long sword for a lvl36 in BG:EE? Without hesitation: Vampire's Revenge :)
But you have to use the ring of the zombie also. :)
