After all the discussing of how paladins should work and what-not, I began thinking about fallen paladins and fallen rangers. Ever since I cleared the black pits with a full party I now use that party (and the rapid leveling offered by the Black Pits) to test out things and see if things can be done. I decided to see if I can dual class a fallen character. Paladins cannot but I noticed something weird when I dual-classed my ranger into cleric. Instead of saying 'Cleric' for the class that he is now leveling in it says 'Yes, that was us.'. I'm not sure what this is referencing but I hope I don't start getting messages that 'Ben drowned' or something.

Update: I just regained my fallen ranger levels and I appear to be able to cast from the druid list just fine but I can't use the normal Cast Spell (F7) button to do so (it's grayed out like an ability I can't use). Instead, I need to right-click on the sole quick-cast slot that I have and choose a spell from there. Turn Undead is also unavailable to me.

    Likely an error in the dialog file, referencing a wrong line. Afaik all the text is stored in one file, and then taken out as needed. If you reference the wrong line, you get random lines of text from somewhere else in the game. I've seen it on several occasions, and it's usually quite hilarious.

    Sometimes it's really funny when the wrong text gets put into the game in the wrong places.

    I'm going to use shadowkeeper to make a ranger neutral evil and make him fall. If I can I'll re-enable rebuke undead and the Cast Spell buttons. I can live without rebuke undead but it's going to be rather annoying casting everything through the quick-cast button. A fighter dualed into cleric would probably be a better character in the end I think though.

    yeah that is a dialogue option to take a bounty reward in nashkel for a job you didn't do I believe
