Menu/Gameplay Options

The difficulty level affects how certain things work in the game. On easiest/normal levels, scrolls are scribed instantly (no chance of fail), HP rolls for level ups are automatically maximum (not random), characters cannot permanently die, and damage is reduced.

On core rules/hardest, the opposite occurs.

This needs a change. Instead of these features being associated with difficulty level, they should just be "tick the box" options under gameplay (except for damage, that should really be the only variable when adjusting the difficulty level.)

For example, I like playing on hardest, but I am sick to death of failing to scribe a scroll. I want to just scribe them automatically. I also like my HP rolls to be random instead of maximum all the time, it adds more flavour to the game. I am sick of adjusting the slider every time I want to scribe a scroll or level up, depending on what I am doing.

Some other options could be

- "half XP option" (as per Vanilla BG where on easiest level you would only get half the XP you would have on a harder setting. This is for gamers who would prefer slower leveling for increased challenge.)

- "no XP for scrolls/traps/locks" (again, as per vanilla BG, where no XP was gained in performing these tasks.)

It would add a few variables to the game which is always a great thing. And it gives people options. If they want to play classic, they can. If they want to mix and match certain things, they can.
