Catching Up With Progress

Hi everyone, not sure if any shall recognise my user name - it must have been about a year since I've logged in to browse the forums, having opted out of buying BG:EE for a long time due to being busy, and for absolutely no other reason. Love BG, and have finally found the time - alongside my ever-present enthusiasm - to play it.

Unfortunately, it has also been a very long time since I did view the forums, and I am very lost as regards a lot of important issues. I know the information will no doubt be somewhere on the forums, although it is all an impenetrable wall of text to me at the moment.

Firstly: Has there been any universal solution provided for Intel Graphics users? I have seen possible solutions around, but nothing concrete. Additionally, if this is not the case, I believe I read somewhere that the upcoming patch will be fixing the matter. Is this true? And if so, is there any confirmation or possible information about when the patch may be released to the public?

Apologies if this has all been explained for users somewhere else!

The upcoming patch should fix the Intel Graphics issues. Overhaul is currently going through a hardware compatibility test with it that you can find more about (including possibly signing up for beta testing it) here.

The newest patch, which re-does the renderer on Intel chipsets, is in testing. I'm hoping that we'll have it by Thanksgiving, as one of our laptops needs the patch to be playable.

It'll be released when its released. To use your example hopefully its released before Canadian thanksgiving! (Canadian vs American thanksgiving is a difference of about a month and a half)

If you bought your copy through Beamdog.com, you'll have access to the beta when we enter Phase 4 (we may open things up starting with Phase 3, actually, but shh, you didn't hear that from me). We're up to 39 successful hardware tests, and our goal is 50, so you can use that as a rough gauge to predict how soon you'll see it.

That's wonderful! Thanks for the help everybody (and apologies for the absurd hour of this reply!). Looking forward to the experience of playing a BG1 Sorcerer with plenty of knobgoblins to fry! ^^
