Black Pits: frequent party-wide "dispel magic"

Black Pits -- loading a save game always results in the audio and visual effect for a party-wide dispel magic, as does performing a quick-save. This audio and visual effect also occurs several times at the start of each Black Pits encounter and continues to occur every few seconds during the encounter.

The high frequency of this issue suggests it might be dependent on specific system configurations. I'm not using any mods and have verified my installation integrity.

Example that reproduces this issue:

1) Start a new Black Pits game with the default party
2) Win the first fight and continue through the intro dialogue
3) When speaking to Najim choose 2, 1, then continue through the rest of the dialogue
4) Party dispel occurs
5) Try quick-saving; dispel sound and visual effects occur
6) Talk to Baeloth and choose 1
7) Two dispels occur during the loading of the encounter
8) Dispel effects continue to occur every few seconds throughout the encounter

UPDATE: This sequence no longer reproduces the issue in the latest build (v1.0.2028), so presumably the issue is now resolved.

    This happens to me too. Also, I've noticed the dispel sound and visual occur on spell-cast, talking to any of the vendors and other character actions and interactions.

    Is this a new feature to prevent prebuffing before the fights? So that you are forced to buff in the arena only, or face dispel every turn in the shopping/resting area.

    This started happening to only one of my characters in Durlags Tower as well. So I'm not sure it is necessarily Black Pits specific.

    This happened to me as well after Yeslick used his special ability (not in the black pits).

    If you have cheats turned on, you can ctrl+R your party members to reset their status. This fixes the dispel glitch (although it also fully heals & removes all buffs)

    Applying ctrl+R to each party member in turn whilst in the Black Pits does seem to temporarily fix the issue there (it stops quick-save from generating the effect too), but the issue starts occurring again after an encounter is completed (I think after the "Dispel Effects" message is seen for each party member).

    Confirmed, recompiling bphub.bcs from .baf with the ApplySpellRES("BPDISPEL", PlayerX) lines removed fixes the issue in Black Pits (at the expense of losing the dispel effect at the end of each encounter). Although this suggests the bug is with BPDISPEL, this particular spell only appears to be used in the Black Pits game files which doesn't explain the occurrences of the bug in the main BG game. Presumably this is a broader problem with the dispel effect.

    As of the second beta build announced in "Phase II, Part 2" (http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/21750/phase-ii-part-2/p1), this issue appears to be fixed for me. Is anyone else still experiencing it?

    NOTE: this issue appears to "stick" to save games. I still get the issue if I re-open a save from the first beta build, but I don't experience it when starting a new Black Pits game.

    It is happening to me as well. Went through first first and second tier this evening and haed the frequent dispel of magic noise.

    I noticed that during the fight between Gorion and Sarevok the dispel used by Sarevok's lackey (I forgot her name - tamoko?) doesn't actually remove the protection spells cast by Gorion. This might be completely unrelated, but I figured I'd mention it here.
