Remember AI scripts after leaving the party

Can you make characters remember their AI scripts after leaving the party? Sometimes I'll want to swap a character in/out of the party, and I often forget to reset their AI scripts when they rejoin. For example, I often want Rasaad to join the party for a little bit so I can do his quest, and then dump him afterwards. It's an even bigger annoyance for paired characters like Khalid/Jaheira. Is this even possible with the engine? They're able to remember equipment and skill choices, why not AI scripts?
