Scaling UI and resolution

I am probably being a huge idiot, but playing the beta I couldn't see a difference when ticking 'scale UI'. I zoomed in and out and it didn't change at all.

On a related note, can you change the resolution? I'd like to experiment with different screen sizes to see how it works, but would like control over the standard size as well as the zoom function.

If I've missed something obvious, feel free to point and laugh.

Hey, I had the same experience. Go to the .ini file which is in the "Baldurs Gate EE" folder in "MyDocuments". Open it with a appropriate program, I think I used Word pad. One of the columns at the bottom reads Width ("W") and Breadth ("B"), which you can change to your native resolution.

I *think* I was able to zoom out more after this change but I havent compared properly - someone else can probably confirm or denounce.

Why cant we set the resolution in-game by the way, anyone know? I realize that the game is supposed to follow your native resolution, but my "W" and "B" in the .ini was set to lower resolutions than my native.

Thank you @aristillius, very helpful. I'll give that a shot when I get to play again.

Well, my ini file doesn't have anything that looks like a candidate for the W and B controls. Hmmm. Is this meant to be shared by BGEE and the Beta?

In my experience you need to add the necessary lines in the baldur.ini-file. My file says:
    'Window', 'w', '1378',
    'Window', 'h', '987',

'w' is for width and 'h' is for height. Adjust them to whatever resolution you'd like, and the game will change it to the closest possible.

Could we get an option to change resolution in game options menu? Its kind of weird that you have to mess around with some files just to change resolution these days.
