[Request] More inventory spots

Yeah I know it's a big ask once you consider there's 6 of us in a team, plenty of space right? NOO it's a lie man.

If I go on a raid I find myself having to run back and forth selling goods just so I can keep looting. I don't think it'd be unfair more than a convenience.

I was just playing Diablo I for the first time ever and I discovered where Neverwinter Nights got it's crazy 'items take up more space than others' thing. I actually think it's cool, but inconvenient. Not for Baldur's Gate.

Item space is definitely the hardest part of the game when I solo and don't have a bag of holding. I guess part of the reasoning behind it is for role play reasons, as if weight was the only constraint then you could easily end up with a character carrying enough weapons to equip a small army. Part of me also likes the idea of having to make hard choices about what to take and what to leave behind, but the other half of me looks at the first half and calls him a crazy fool, as it is just a matter of popping said items in a box and coming back for them later

potion bags, scroll cases and gem bags go a long way to help saving space, as do bags of holding and a pocket plane later on, but at the moment I cannot think of a plausible way to allow a character to carry more apart from adding more slots to the normal inventory. I am undecided about whether I would support expanding the current inventory, however I suspect most of my reservations are due to nostalgia goggles and how I love the current inventory screen.

i agree with Cadros, i think maybe they should just add one gem bag/ scroll case/ potion bag, in bgee and i think that would be justifiable, since 60 % of filled inventory is usually that stuff ( minus projectiles) a bag of holding i would think would be kinda over powered, since a lot of pcs have low strength in bg 1, and a bag of holding can hold up to infinite weight theoritically and would make their low strength obsolete

Maybe unlocking more inventory space could be done through achievements?

well look on the other side...
who in real life can carry 300 + arrows, swords, armor etc etc....
Quit crying and decide what to carry !!!! ;O)

I think the only expansion that I'd want inventory -wise, would be a dedicated slot for a bag (akin to a necklace slot, or any other equipable item. Think of it this way, the makes of belts would include, similarly to most fantasy stories, a notch or a place for a bag. Usually this would hold gold, but because that isn't an item that you move around, it could be changed for a gem bag or a potion bag and so forth. This would give some flexibility to the inventory system.

I like Delvon's idea of a bag slot. I mean technically you tie it to your waist anyway.
Even if it were just one more horizontal line on the inventory screen I'd be ecstatic.
Also increasing the arrow stacking capacity would be greatly appreciated. I haven't done research to see if this is included. But I used to have at least one character dedicated to carry only arrows. Maybe it's because I'm fond of having at least 2 ranged bow users. If they're worrying about it not being realistic increase the weight of arrows I guess. Just make the stacking ammount increased greatly.

    Just my 2 cents.

I like the idea of either an expanded inventory or more holding items (like gem bags, scroll cases, and the like). One of the best things about Tutu was that you could get these things in stores. They still weren't bottomless, so it's not like you could load up on items forever. I think a good compromise would be more holding items rather than more slots. For me, managing the inventory was a frustrating part of the game and made smaller parties and solo adventures less fun.

Plus I think plot items should not count against inventory. It just isn't sensible. Nothing stops the action dead like hearing "an item has been dropped to make room in your inventory"

My Inventory Concerns can be fixed by adding a window where I can access everyone's inventory at the same time.

I like that, it makes it a little more harsh in the game like choosing between stuff to throw away or keep it to sell. It would make the game really faaaaaaar to easy if it would be like in nwn2 where every person can carry like a 100 swords or something like that ......

Inventory management is my favorite part of any game, aside from sex.

Meaning that you actually have to resort to IE games for sex?

I don't have a problem with them bringing Gem bag and Scroll box to BG1 but I do not want any other inventory changes.

Come on, guys. Stick to the topic. Nobody needs to hear about your fantastic boning.

Either way, I think more "holding" items would be fantastic. I always sort of liked the inventory management portion of the game, and rather than straight-out giving the player more inventory, I'd rather see more Ammo Cases, Scroll Cases, and Gem Bags.

I'm with @Silence for plot items not counting against inventory. Perhaps those could be stored in a separate "bag" or something.

The mule/pack animal idea is cool..and adds gameplay elements as well...better hope that beast of burden doesn't get killed in this fight with these gnolls or you'll have to leave/comeback hoping your stuff you couldn't carry is still there..etc

Or add a spell like Leomund's secret chest or extraplanar chest or something along those lines...Leomunds would be neat as you have to carry a miniature chest around in your inventory to use it. Don't lose it or have it pickpockted or your stuff is gone! :-)

Adding more inventory space is impossible without changing the inner file structure. Which is, not quite desirable, so to speak.

I recall they already will add few bags of holding/gem bags/scroll cases/whatever in BG1.

    Neat idea, btw.
