[Bug] Cursed Sword of Berserking rage controllable with charm spells?

I mentioned this in another bug thread, but it was suggested I create a thread of its own. Others have raised the concern that it might not be a bug, but it does seem contrary to the nature of items that send the wielder into an uncontrollable rage. I attempted to fight sirines with CHARNAME armed with the Cursed Sword of Berserking, thinking he would attack them regardless of his ally/enemy state because the sword makes you completely nutso with fury. This strategy was soundly defeated by the sirine's Dire Charm ability, and what was once an uncontrollable killing machine suddenly became an enemy. Coupled with the sirine's ability to wander off and find you once threatened, I was soon under attack by a charmed berserker. Bug, or no bug?

    I'd say that's working as intended. Dire Charm is a powerful spell, after all.

    I wander if u could cast dire charm on teh charname and then he would be countercharmed............ hmmmm

    This is why I'm concerned it is a bug, especially if it works inconsistently. I tested it earlier and even when Xzar's Dire Charm successfully charmed CHARNAME while he was yellow'd by the Cursed Sword, I did not regain control of him.
