Can't save game after random encounter

When moving to map AR5500 I was "waylaid by enemies" and after leaving the encounter was unable to save my game. It was as if the game still thought I was on the "waylaid" map and did not register that I moved. Not sure that it matters but I was moving a long distance and was actually waylaid twice before reaching the map I was going to.
