Updating game broken (again)

Ok back when the third patch came out I was using the standalone launcher and when I tried to update my game the downloader began crashing about 15 percent of the way through "checking files". I tried various recommended fixes and the only thing that ultimately worked was uninstalling the game and reinstalling through the beamdog launcher. Since then I've had no problem downloading updates to the beta, until today, when I get around to trying to download the latest couple of updates (been busy!)... Aaand the checking files problem is back. Further, I can't even get the beta patch version of BG to launch. It comes up with an error dialogue saying "cannot compile openGL shaders".

I'm going to try a reinstall but... soo depressed to see this problem suddenly reoccuring when I thought I had it beat.

Ok, uninstalled the beta and beamdog launcher, and now am able to download the game. Seriously wonder what's going on!

Could be your own harddrive starting to fail.

It's possible, sure, but I've tested the thing like mad to try and find any problems with it and haven't found anything. Further, the problem originally occurred some 8 months ago with the standalone launcher when the hard drive was new, and until it happened a second time was literally the only problem with installing, updating, or loading any program that I've had on this system.

I'm glad I've found a fix but re-downloading the whole thing isn't exactly ideal.
