You won't have to use the beamdog client. You'll be able to use a standalone launcher, just as with BG1:EE purchased via beamdog. Pretty sure that's what they've said anyway, where did you get your information from?
If you log onto your account on Beamdog.com and click "my games" is Baldur's Gate II Enhanced Edition there? That is where you will go when downloading begins. You shouldn't need the client.
As elminster said, after you log in, go to 'my games' and select BG2:EE. After that press the button "Install Now" which will initiate the installer download.. for example in BG:EE:
