What is BGEE.sql

I've seen this mentioned as a cause for crashing and Dee has often asked if it's present in the portrait folder and, if so, to delete it.

What is this file, where does it come from? Is it a leftover from patch 2014? From an old mod, a portrait pack perhaps? Can it appear on fresh installs?

    It's from Ultimate Portrait Pack.

Yeah, this is why the updater tries to delete files. Unfortunately, it couldn't delete that outdated bgee.sql from the portrait dir :D

So I deleted it, but unfortunately now I can't use the portrait pack in the override directory. Any suggestions?

    Dee said:

It's a file that is altered by at least one portrait pack mod and added to the portraits folder, which also controls most of the game's inner workings. If you have that file, it will override the more up-to-date version included in the game and cause everything to break.

Ah, so that's what it is.

@Ettercow The purpose of changing BGEE.sql was to have the added protraits available in the same screen as the original ones. If you copy the images into the portraits directory, you should be able to select one of the new picture through the normal screen for additionnal protraits.

Thanks, I think I'm gonna do that. But I've also decided to go a little crazy and change some of those companion portraits too. Just learned how.
