bug (1.2) - combat info (damage) not showing correctly

Under the Feedback Options I have "show combat info" activated, to check the damage my party is doing. But it's showing very infrequently in the combat log, sometimes it shows "Jaheira did 4 damage", very often it doesn't show a thing (my Inquisitor is killing a Hobgoblin in one hit- it just shows: Hobgoblin - Death).

I can see my chars hitting the monsters (animations and sound play out) but no damage is shown. As far as I can tell, this also goes for damage enemies are dealing.

I had to "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings" under compatibility in Win 8.1 to play BG EE correctly scaled, don't know if this is somehow connected. No other visual bugs have shown yet.

Can someone help? This is very irritating...

    Further testing leads me to suspect that my CHARNAME is too long...damage from other characters is shown, CHARNAMES damage not, just my name appearing in the combat log. I will elaborate further ...

    Well, I got this down...during character creation I accidentily put some special letters in my name that weren't shown in game, but in the save file (opened with EE Keeper). I deleted them and everything's fine now. Case closed :)
