Cloak wood mine flooding quest problem

Problem[OS : WindowsXP, Language : German, Version : 1.2] :
I walked through the mine and met Bill( the guy who wants 100 gold for helping the slaves to escape ).
Later I finished the mine chief on 4.level. To safe time I used the elevator to get back to level 1.
Now I want to flood the mine - telling the slave that I still talked to bill but after the party is outside the mine,
one of the slaves told me that I killed most of them.
To solve this you got to go to mine level 2 again and revisit bill. By the way - the floors on the east, the secret tunnel and the prision area are hidden in shadow again. If you enter the prision area bill encounters and act like you saw him the first time. The same for the poor dwarf.

( I guess this is a script which reruns if you enter the level 2 from level 1)
If you again talk to bill and give him again 100 gold, return to the slave who open the gate it works ( the
slave apears again and tell you, that every slaves are rescued ).

Solution:
You should not revisit Bill if you already talked to him. ( the areas should be known if you re enter level 2 )

So when you first encountered Bill did you give him the 100 gold? (and I mean before you found out that the slaves died later)

Yes I gave him 100 gold and also talked to the guy who opens the gate
