Hulrik and his cow

in BG:EE Bugs (v1.2)
I just killed all the xvarts (7 or 8) threatening Hulrik's cow, but he keeps saying "Why are you talking to me? They're trying to kill Arabelle while we chat!" (translated from Italian).

I casted a fear spell, but I then checked every corner of the map for any missing xvart, but found none.
Quite frustrating not being able to complete the task.

You need the save file?

    I am sorry, but it was a no-reload game, I started another and that one got lost :-( I'll write here if I face that situation again.
