Cant get BG 1 EE to work ever since download Patch

Can someone help me? Ive messaged a few moderators and I think that I am asking a stupid question. I downloaded 1.2 patch and ever since then it crashes on startup. Any hints?

Do you have a portrait pack installed?
  • DKnightDKnight Member Posts: 307
No portrait pack, just been crashing once I downloaded the 1.2 patch. I don't know what error it is because its too confusing and long. It doesn't say. It has to be the patch because the game ran perfect before.

Well I will tag @Dee and hopefully you can get some help. Otherwise email support@beamdog.com and include this crash info in the email.

I clicked repair and it initially might have worked but it stopped with same error. I guess the new patch and my mac don't like each other. Id like to try other things but Im terrible with computer stuff and don't even know basic stuff. I wish there was an easy way about this :(

This happened to me until I disconnected my second monitor. After that it worked fine. Dunno if that's the case for you.

@DKnight Do you really have the latest version? This version identification looks strange.

Your computer appears to be in the future. Maybe you should fix that in case it makes something go wrong when you connect to the server and download updates or try to repair the installation.

Let me explain-The computer has a messed up time because one day it jumped forward 5 days. That was like a half a year ago.

Is there anything else I can do or is it just messed up? The game ran fine until I downloaded the patch. My best guess is that the patch is still in alpha.

There are already a few threads in the windows support subforum and in the beamdog forums.
I can't get it to work too, but no message error here, just the beamdog button doing nothing. I changed my PC a few days after the patch, so i know it worked on my old PC but not with the new one (with a fresh install).

@DKnight From posts on the Mac support forum, it appears the game version on Mac is V1.2.2029. Your version does not match, so I'd say your game is not properly updated.
Is it that hard to fix the time shift on a Mac? I don't know if it can cause problem when downloading the game update but I believe you should fix simple things like that first.

If you go into applications -> Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition -> Game Data -> 00774 (these directions may not be precisely accurate as I'm using a different version of mac OS than you)

Is there a build-date.txt file? If so what is its creation date?
  • DKnightDKnight Member Posts: 307
Its 00777 for number and 777.fastresume. I can't open the file that was just listed.

Can anyone give me any other advice or is it too late to ask for money back. I don't understand what I did wrong. I played through the game 6 times with 6 playthroughs. Am I to understand that I wont ever play the game again? Who do I need to contact?

You had owned the game whole year and run 6 playthroughs , why does beamdog need to re-fund to you? it doesn't make sense,

Im not really asking for a refund. I just want it to get fixed. I guess I'll have to wait. Im not angry so much, its just that Baldurs Gate series is my favorite game series. I can't go 1 month without playing :(

Have you tried (after backing up your saves, characters, mods, etc.) deleting the game and re-downloading it? Its possible that the download corrupted something.

I tried deleted the game and redownloaded and it still came up with same download message. I want to hope this will get fixed but none of the moderators answer my messages. Are they really busy?

BG2's release is on Friday, so things are probably crazy hectic in the offices and elsewhere prepping everything.

Have you tried updated your Mac OSX? I notice you have an older version. The game is working fine on my Macbook Pro 2.5GHz Intel Core i5, 8 Gigs of 1600 MHz DDR3 RAM, ntel HD Graphics 4000 512 MB, OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.5. At the moment it sounds like there's an issue with your computer downloading the update rather than with the update itself.

Isn't there any support from team I can get or is the sole interest on Bg 2 EE?
  • EudaemoniumEudaemonium Member Posts: 3,199
I don't know, I'm not a member of the team. Like I said, it seems the problem is with your end, not there's, in which case there isn't much you can do. From the error log you posted above, it appears that your version of the game isn't actually the patch, which implies you are having issues downloading the patch to begin with, not that it doesn't work once you do. Have you updated your OSX and other programs that might be interfering? If the problem is not with the game there isn't much Beamdog or Overhaul can do.

So how/where do I download the real patch. If you can help me with that, I will be very grateful. I haven't played in a month.

Thanks Trent! If this works me and Dorn will buy you a pizza or Hibachi food. Whatever your preference.

    Trent !!

Did you find out the error. I have the 2nd game but the 1st still wont work. Do you need anything else for me to help you solve this error. Dorn is complacent in 2nd game.
  • DKnightDKnight Member Posts: 307
Should I be doing anything else to make this get fixed? I want to make sure that this error is fixed. Where's beam dog support?
  • DKnightDKnight Member Posts: 307
Can anyone tell me and at least confirm that Trent or someone from team is working on this? Is there a new patch I can download for Bg 1 EE that might fix it? If anyone can point me to right direction I'd be glad. Thx,
