My pc crashed, is my character gone?

in New Players (NO SPOILERS!)
Hi, i got two question, one:

My pc crashed and i bought a new one, is there a way to get my old character back? (like mayb they are stored online as well or something)

second: When BG 2 comes out, can I import my BG 1 character?

    I don't think there is a cloud save for the moment.
    And yes you can import bg1 characters to bg2
