@Eudamonium I know that. But, it is perfectly reasonable for a thief to be Lawful evil when they are proficient in stealing things.
Eh, it kind of depends on her reasons. For example she could be doing it to fulfil a contract or bound agreement with her master, which would be lawful behaviour, if not legal behaviour.
I would love to have another character who you can influence with your acts. A bit like Viconia's aligment but a lot earlier and no romance required. She starts as neutral evil thief who only cares herself and the possible profit she can make. Her background could be some horrific betrayal in the past that made her unable to trust anyone else than herself.
She wouldn't leave the party if you go over 18 reputation. That could be the way to transfer her aligment. Possibly earn X amount of reputation points while over 18 reputation or X amount of overflow points that come when you are capped at 20 reputation. When you have reached specific milestones there would be conversation and you could influence her with your words and goody goody moral. Eventually her conscience would grow and she would turn into chaotic good. "Good" because she has grown conscience, cares for other people and aims to do good thing. "Chaotic" because she has experienced hardiness of life and seeks justice in her own way.
That would have been my dreamcase. Of course she would be less fleshed for evil groups unless someone comes up with same kind of "story" for evil groups for her to follow.

I like that idea for most games. Surely, regardless of the initial alignment, after spending weeks/months travelling with a group of people you consider allies your views should change!
No funny choice to make in the poll. What if I want her to be "skip to results" by nature?
Actually the only serious option was "Yes, Baldur's Gate 2 is screaming for an evil thief! She better be!" The remainder of the options were intended to be the funny/silly/ridiculous ones. So actually, you have 4 to choose from! :P
Yeah, they said that, but they aren't giving much information. Sometimes what one wants and what does aren't the same thing due to other influences. And her portrait doesn't exactly scream evil person, like say, Dorn's does.
Virtually no portrait conveys alignment. Dorn's implies grit, grump, and anger, none of which are evil-exclusive.

I think that was the 'hawt' option. Just sayin'.
Doesn't apply. My vote is "I don't care, as long as she can wear the gender change belt and then looks like Josh Holloway and has a custom voiceset by Colin Cunningham." Rawr.

Well, I know we're not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but when I look at Dorn's portrait I think, there's one evil bastard. Same goes for Sarevok... both the BG version (obviously) and the BG2 version (must be the glowing eyes). I assume that Viconia is evil too, simply because she's drow. So I agree that you can't know alignment from a portrait in most cases, but sometimes evil is fairly easy to discern.
That said, my only point about mentioning Hexxat's portrait is that it leaves plenty of room for her not to be evil. She actually looks sort of innocent and sweet, to be honest.

In retrospect I really should have included that option. I am ashamed for having missed something so obvious.

What does Rasaad's portrait make you think? He doesn't exactly look like a good guy either. At best, I'd say grumpy/determined to get his revenge/dead serious/no nonsense kind of guy. Concept art even more.

I've always felt a bit of a disconnect between Rasaad's art and his actual in-game personality. He's determined, to be sure, but in game his determination is more quiet and cool, whereas his portrait is all *sinister stare*.
No, I think they don't care as long as they can walk behind her
Duh. Thieves scout for traps, of course they need to walk ahead. Stealthed.
Just so long as people don't make juvenile jokes like 'She can pick my pocket. Any time.'
She can pick my pocket, any time. She can fiddle with my lock, any time. She'll be able to detect my device She can hide herself in my shadows. She can move silently around my room She can stare at my illusion She might be laying more than just a trap later tonight.

Speaking of vixens I still want my Safana romance. Even if it is a fling (which, it probably would be knowing her).

Ok, I think that just about covers everything.
