Option to disable auto-pause on entering inventory, journal, etc.

It would be sweet to have an option to disable auto-pause on entering inventory, character screen etc. That way players could, for example, have their encumbered party slowly crawl towards a merchant's doorstop from the other side of the map, while the player amuses himself by rearranging inventory and reading the journal. Of course there is the ancient spell of Control-J, but such magic is foul and breaks immersion.

I too would very much like to have such option.
Moreover, in original BG opening the inventory would cancel pause.

This is also how Baldur's gate originally was - or rather - there was no option to pause.
Items that weren't in the characters' quickslots were effectively 'buried' in their packs. You couldn't pause and look around through your inventory. The game kept going while you looked through it.
It added an exciting aspect to the game. I'd like to have the option to at least choose to play that way.

Ideally I'd like a mode, where pausing and unpausing is triggered only by auto-pause triggers and pressing space. Changing screens would always respect the current pause-state and would not automatically pause nor unpause.

Agree with the OP. There is a section in the gameplay menue for auto-pause, checkboxes for pause on variuos screens there would suffice. There was a request for this some time ago.

I don't know why such thing isn't implemented, it shouldn't be a big deal. In my mind the possibility to customize your game is a standard feature in a remake of an old game, not something players should ask for.

There has also been some other threads about customising the game.
